A Message from Kate MacDonald - Ontario SPCA Chief Executive Officer

Each year, tens of thousands of animals in desperate need of shelter, care and compassion are brought to Ontario SPCA Branches and affiliated Humane Societies. In addition to providing animal sheltering, rehabilitation and adoption services, the Society is responsible for enforcing the province's animal cruelty laws. It is caring people like you who keep our shelters open and our investigators on the street - helping us create kinder communities. I'm happy to say that supporting the Ontario SPCA's lifesaving efforts has just gotten easier.

In 2006 changes were made to tax laws, making the donation of stock one of the most advantageous ways to support animals in need. The federal government has eliminated the capital gains tax owed on donations of appreciated publicly traded securities to registered charities and the gift is still eligible for a charitable tax receipt.

Your gift of stock, combined with the Ontario SPCA's commitment to being a strong, unified and collaborative organization dedicated to the cultivation of a compassionate Ontario for all animals, will help bring us one step closer to putting an end to animal cruelty in this province.
